Sandy was my second oldest sister and like a second mom to me. She and her husband Tink took care of me when I was little and when they had their first son, Rick, I became a four year old aunt. We spent a lot of time together since they lived in Ewing then. Kim came along in 1969 and when I was about 12, I started babysitting them. Sandy taught me a lot about life during those young teenage years. I was living alone with my parents by the age of 12 so going over to their house was… Read more »

Our time together was too short, but we treasured every moment. You were a beautiful woman with your Prince Charming at your side. There were so many adventures to share and so many moments and memories to make yet! . Know how much you are loved and how much you will be missed! We love you and Dick very much, and wish you a million more good times being with those you are now seeing, and watching over those you had to leave behind for a while. God be with you always and see you sooner than later! love ,… Read more »

I am BethAnn (Bet), Sandy’s older sister, and the older sister of all the nine MacDonald siblings, the oldest in the family. Sandy and I were only fourteen and a half months apart, close in age but different in almost all other aspects. Despite her dark hair and brown eyes and my blond hair and green eyes, people often mistook us for twins, as she closed the gap in our height quickly, the tallest of the MacDonald girls. For four years, there were just the two of us, before Diane, the “five-star gang”, and finally Barb. I started school two… Read more »

When I was a child the MacDonald family would all get together for family reunions in Troy, Pennsylvania and I remember greatly looking forward to these gatherings. I had a lot of fun running through the woods, jumping on the trampoline and swimming and fishing in the pond at Uncle David and Aunt Martha’s house with my cousins. I also remember what terrific hosts Uncle Tink and Aunt Sandy were. I remember borrowing movies from their collection to watch and genuinely being made to feel very welcome in their home. And looking back now it couldn’t have been an easy… Read more »

When you ask someone from a big family what their “number” is, they’ll know right away what you mean. My sister Sandy is number two; I’m number eight. Sandy was born three days after VE Day, while our father was in Germany with the U.S. Army. He didn’t come home until November of that year, meeting his second daughter for the first time as a six month old. Our third sister, Diane, was born three years later. After a three year break, my parents had two sets of twins and a single son in just three years (numbers four through… Read more »

Words can’t not describe how wonderful Sandy was to me…… Sandy was an Angel and I was so lucky to have the best mother in law that anybody can wish for and a privilege to call her Mom. I remember when I met her for the first time and she hug me and looked at me like she had known me forever and I felt so much love in that moment that I never going to forget, the look in her eyes and the smile in her face welcomed me in her family the minute that Rick introduced us. Mom… Read more »

I’m #3 of the MacDonald siblings after Sandy who was #2. Sandy told me she and Bet (#1) were “fighting” over me when Mom first brought me home from the hospital as newborn. They each asserted I was THEIR baby. Scroll forward to our teenage years when we shared a bedroom. She didn’t like my snoring and threw some some books at me to get me to stop. I responded by throwing shoes back at her. Nevertheless she asked me to be bridesmaid in her wedding. And when Rick was born she asked me to be his godmother (which takes… Read more »

I am Lori, the 4th sister born in the MacDonald family, Sandy being the 2nd. Because I was quite young it’s hard to remember lots of memories before Sandy graduated high school and went off to Nursing School, but a few things stick out but it’s beyond me why these recollections come to mind, its so funny. We had a cousin named Susan Fenton who was Sandy’s age and she came to live with us for awhile (another story all on its own) when Sandy and Susan were in highschool. I think the 2 of them stirred up some “trouble”… Read more »

Everyone knew Sandy in their own way. Some of you knew her as your friend, some of you knew her as your Aunt, some as cousin, sister, sister-in-law or Mother-in-Law, grandmom or wife. I just wanted to share a few memories from my perspective, having Sandy as a Mother. It’s funny, but I have memories going back to very early childhood, even back to Maple Street in Princeton. I could tell you stories about Mom taking care of me when I scraped my knee or bumped my head, making the boo boos feel all better. But those of you that… Read more »
